Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using CardSwitchr.
Is CardSwitchr free to use?
Yes, completely free. There are no premium tiers, no hidden fees, and no paywalls. You can upload your statement and compare all cards at no cost.
Do you store my bank statement data?
No. Your bank statement data is not permanently stored. It is processed temporarily during your active session to generate your rewards comparison, and is no longer retained once your session ends. We only store your email address for authentication.
What file formats do you support?
We support CSV and PDF bank statements from most major banks.
Which credit cards do you compare?
We currently support cards from Chase and Capital One, including popular options like the Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited, Ink Business Preferred, Venture X, Venture, and Platinum. We're actively adding more cards and issuers.
How accurate are the rewards calculations?
Our calculations are based on each card's published rewards rates, including category multipliers, preferred partner rates, and signup bonus eligibility. Results are estimates for informational purposes — actual rewards may vary depending on how your card issuer categorizes specific merchants and any changes to card terms.
Do I need an account to use the calculator?
Yes, you need to sign in with your email via a magic link (no password required). This helps us provide a secure session experience. We only store your email — nothing else.
Do you factor in signup bonuses?
Yes. We evaluate whether your spending level would meet each card's signup bonus requirements within the qualifying period, and include eligible bonuses in the estimated annual rewards calculation.
What are preferred partner rates?
Some cards earn bonus points when you book travel through the issuer's travel portal or use specific partner services. We include these rates in our calculations and show them separately so you can see the potential uplift.
Will you add more credit cards?
Yes. We're building out support for additional issuers and cards. If there's a specific card you'd like to see, let us know.
How is CardSwitchr different from other comparison sites?
Most comparison sites recommend cards based on generic spending profiles or affiliate partnerships. CardSwitchr analyzes your actual spending to calculate personalized results. While we may earn affiliate commissions when you apply through our links, our rankings are determined entirely by the math — not by which card pays us the most.
Does CardSwitchr earn money from affiliate links?
Yes. We may earn a commission when you click an "Apply Now" link and are approved for a credit card. This is how we keep the service free. Importantly, affiliate compensation never influences our rankings — all cards are ranked by the same algorithm based on your actual spending data. See our Affiliate Disclosure page for full details.
Does CardSwitchr provide financial advice?
No. CardSwitchr is an informational tool that provides estimated rewards calculations. It is not financial advice. Always do your own research, review the card issuer's official terms, and consider your full financial situation before applying for a credit card.
